“You don’t need to go to Goa to go to a beach” I tell all my friends who have a calling for Goa. If you are lucky enough to be here in Rishikesh, grab your scooter and drive up along the Ganga towards Shivpuri. Once you have crossed the hustle and bustle of Shivpuri and the madness of the raft carrying taxis, you will start seeing virgin beaches down the valley. Some of the beaches have a comparatively easy access and in one of our exploration trips we walked down the road to find one of the biggest and magical places to practice yoga, chill, have a picnic and swim in the mother Ganga. A picture conveys a thousand words so here they are:

Practical information:

  1. Go early in the morning on Weekdays
    • Becomes busy after 9 PM as rafting/construction work commences.
    • On weekends yoga students are often seen here from ttc schools in Rishikesh ( for their weekend excursion and to shoot all the kool Insta pics).
  2. Bring plenty of water and snacks (it gets hot once the sun is out especially in summers)
  3. There are no public toilets here (plenty of bushes available)
  4. Avoid trashing the place – we are starting to see all types of trash on this serene peace of holy beach (broken beer bottles/cans, cigarette butts, lighters, plastic trash of all manner)
