This used to be one of the favorite of the Ganga Beaches in Rishikesh and the best part is that it’s kind of far and we never used to find people. Now that we are no longer living in Rishikesh it seems fair to share its secrets!

Good news is you can reach this walking ~ just need to walk a bit. To reach this place walk down towards Laxman Zhula from Tapovan side, cross the Laxman Zhula and take a left after crossing and keep walking till you get out of town. You will cross the Ganga view café (on your left; nice views; avoidable food), tree house café on your right (avoidable food and views; but they do have live music at times) keep walking and in sometime you will approach the white temple like building along the ganga bank on your left.

Soon you will leave the cafes behind and more trees around you and soon you will cross the police checkpoint and the sign telling you thanks for your visit to the town. Keep walking for another 5 minutes and you will see a rough path going down on your left (down and right). This path is not for people with injury and you will have to do a fair bit of scrambling to get down. After going down for a while you will reach a ledge and need to climb down it and then carry on down all the way down to the river bank. Once you do reach down do NOT go to the left side (that area is restricted and police will ask you to come out). However the area on the right side is deserted and that’s where you want to explore. So keep going right, along a small pond and soon you will emerge on to the secret beach. Its an amazing place to do your morning practice and is protected from Sun till noon time. So if you are feeling adventurous and looking to reach this magical place – get your hiking shoes (or sandals on) and get out there.

Remember:

  • Keep the place cleaner than you found it (Take your and any trash you find back with you)
  • This is not an easy scramble down – NOT recommended unless you are physically fit
  • Take plenty of water and snacks with you (but watch out for monkeys)
